Choco-Pecan Pie Bars Submit Your Recipe
 
 
Bite-sized and delicious, and perfect for host/hostess gifts or for late night desserts, this is one of those recipes that easily morphs into "signature treats."
 
Ingredients:

1½ cups organic all-purpose flour
½ cup chopped pecans
½ cup (1 stick) organic unsalted butter, softened
¼ cup packed Wholesome Sweeteners Fair Trade Organic Light Brown Sugar

3 large eggs, well beaten
½ cup Wholesome Sweeteners Organic Raw Blue Agave
¾ cup Wholesome Sweeteners Fair Trade Organic Sucanat
2 Tablespoons organic unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla
1½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1¾ cup chopped pecans

 
Directions :

Preheat the oven to 350°F.

Toast the chopped pecans for 5 minutes or so on a cookie sheet.

Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.

Using your fingertips or a pair of forks, blend the flour, ½ cup chopped pecans, butter and brown sugar together until crumbly. Press evenly into the baking pan and bake for 12-15 minutes until lightly brown. Cool completely.

Reduce oven temperature to 325°F.

Beat together the eggs, Sucanat, Raw Agave, butter and vanilla. (The Sucanat will dissolve during this process.) Mix in the chocolate chips and remaining 1¾ cup chopped pecans.

Pour over the baked crust and bake for 35-45 minutes or until set.

Cool the pan on a wire rack. When completely cooled, cut into bars. Store in a

Suggestions : Adjust the chocolate chip-to-pecan ratio to suit your personal taste. You might also want to play with spices--Like a little more zip? Add a whisper of dried chipotle to the chocolate-pecan mix or use bourbon instead of vanilla.
