Honey Buttermilk Cornbread Submit Your Recipe
 
 
Sweet, tart and oh, so moist, this cornbread is delicious warm with sweet butter and drizzled with honey.
 
Ingredients:

1½ cups all-purpose unbleached flour

1¼ cups stone-ground cornmeal

2½ teaspoons baking soda

1½ teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

3 large cage-free eggs

1 cup organic buttermilk

1/4 cup melted sweet cream butter, cooled slightly

1/4 cup Wholesome Sweeteners Fair Trade Organic Honey
 
Directions :

Heat oven to 425°F. Grease a 9-inch square baking pan or spray with baking spray. Heat the pan in the oven while mixing the ingredients.

 

Combine the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

In another bowl, whisk the eggs with the buttermilk, butter, and honey. Pour the egg mixture into the dry mixture and stir just until combined. (It'll be ;lumpy, and that's ok--if you overbeat it it will yield a tough dough.) Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
