Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
For the pie dough, place dry ingredients in a bowl or food processor and blend. Cut in margarine and shortening, add ice water and process until dough starts to stick together, form into a flat disk and roll out to form bottom crust. Place in a 9-inch pie pan.
To make the filling, peel, core and slice the apples; add cinnamon, Sucanat and flour. Toss to mix, pile into the pie pan.
For the crumb topping, mix all the ingredients together. Pile on top of apples in a mound and press down.
Bake at 400 degrees F for 30 minutes. Reduce oven to 350 degrees F and bake another 30 minutes or until apples are tender and top is golden brown. Cool on rack. |
