Ingredients:

11/2 cups Wholesome Sweeteners Fair Trade Organic Dark Brown Sugar

21/4 cups Wholesome Sweeteners Fair Trade Organic Sugar or Fair Trade Natural Cane Sugar

1/4 cup organic unsalted butter

1/4 cup Wholesome Sweeteners Fair Trade Organic Blackstrap Molasses

3/4 teaspoon ground ginger

3/4 teaspoon cinamon

4 large cage-free eggs

2 cage-free egg whites

91/3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour

1/2 Tablespoon sea salt

1/2 Tablespoon baking powder

 
Directions :

In a medium bowl, mix the first six ingredients (brown sugar through cinnamon) until smooth.

Combine the eggs and egg whites in a separate bowl. Then slowly mix in them into the creamed sugar and butter until well combined.

Combine the flour, salt and baking powder and mix them into the batter until well combined.

Wrap and chill the dough for several hours before rolling.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Roll dough to desired size and thickness (approximately 1/4-inch thick) and cut to shape. Brush an egg wash over the dough before baking if you want them to have a shine after baking.

Bake in preheated oven for approximately 15 minutes.

Let cool completely before decorating.

Notes: An egg wash is one beaten egg.

Roll, shape and cut the dough while it is still cold.

Allow dough to chill and rest before baking.
