Apple Crumble Submit Your Recipe
 
 
This is a great, easy alternative to apple pie.
 
Ingredients:

For Apple Mix:

12 large McIntosh apples (16 if small) or any organic apples

¼ cup Billington’s Light Brown Muscovado Sugar

2 teaspoon cinnamon

Pinch nutmeg

1 Tablespoon lemon juice

1 9-inch pie shell

 

For Crumble:

2½ cups oats (large flakes)

1¼ cups Billington’s Light Brown Muscovado Sugar

½  stick butter or margarine, soft
 
Directions :

Preheat oven to 350° F.

 

Peel and slice apples. In a bowl, mix sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and lemon juice.

 

To make crumble, mix oats and sugar until blended.  Add warmed butter and mix just until crumbly (avoid over mixing).

 

Fill pie shell with apple mix and cover with crumble topping.

 

Bake for 1 hour. Serve it with vanilla ice cream.

 

Serves 6-8 people.

Suggestions : If needed, substitute measure for measure Wholesome Sweeteners Fair Trade Certified Light Brown Sugar for Billington’s Light Brown Muscovado Sugar.

You can also omit pie crust and just pour the apple mixture into a buttered preheated baking dish.

For a real summer treat, substitute fresh peaches for apples!
