Like Manna from Heaven…

“This is a breakthrough innovation in the organic sweetener movement, and is a great addition for fans of organic products who want to cut calories without giving up the sweet flavor,” said Caren Wilcox, Executive Director of the Organic Trade Association. “I can say with confidence that Organic Zero will fill an important dietary need, and will be embraced by culinary professionals and consumers alike.”

Organic Zero
Zero Calories
Zero Glycemic Index
Zero Artificial
Tastes & Looks Like Sugar Because it's Made Just from Sugar
In early January, Wholesome Sweeteners introduced Organic Zero at the 2007 Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco and started a buzz about the hottest food product to come along in years. Organic Zero, the first all natural, organic sweetener of its kind, drew rave reviews. Organic Zero looks and tastes like sugar because it is made just from sugar, and is slated to hit shelves in summer 2007.
Organic Zero contains zero calories, has a Glycemic Index of zero, contains zero artificial ingredients, and is certified organic, unlike sugar substitutes currently on the market. It is made from organic sugar cane juice, which is naturally fermented and crystallized, creating the first organic erythritol, a naturally occurring sugar that is present in fruits such as pears and melons, and fermented foods like soy sauce and beer. It is 70 percent as sweet as regular sugar, does not cause tooth decay and is easily digested.
For a free sample of Wholesome Sweeteners Organic Zero please send a note to Info@WholesomeSweeteners.com and write Free Zero in the email subject line. In the body of the email, please tell us your name, phone number and address. We’ll send a complimentary sample right out! |

Sweet Fact:
Did you know that sugar
contains glycolic acid, one
of the natural alpha-hydroxy acids that exfoliate the skin?
Dermatologists use it in peels
and you can use it at home
in much smaller concentrations
to brighten your skin's
appearance and texture.
(It may even reduce wrinkles
and improve other skin conditions.) |
Valentine's Day...
It's for lovers, for sweets and treats, hugs and kisses, and snuggling in on a winter's day. For many of us, Valentine's is smack in the middle of one of the coldest, driest months of the year, too! This year, consider a more hands-on approach to sweetening your Valentine's celebration with a homemade sugar scrub ...
It's amazingly easy to nourish and smooth your skin (or a loved one's...) from within your kitchen cabinet. And besides, afterwards, you'll have healthier, smoother, brighter-looking skin with a deliciously sweet glow ....
Enjoy!
To exfoliate dry wintry skin, step into a warm shower, pour a couple of Wholesome Sweeteners Fair Trade Organic Sugar into your hand or onto a cloth and gently rub your skin, then rinse and dry! It couldn't be easier--and your skin will feel just wonderful!
Turbinado Body Scrub
2 cups Wholesome Sweeteners Organic Turbinado
1 cup Wholesome Sweeteners Organic Blue Agave
3 Tablespoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger (or powdered is fresh isn't available)
This is great for soothing dry itchy skin, and a perfect alternative to homemade salt scrubs, which can make dry skin feel even drier. Mix the ingredients together then massage it into damp skin. It makes a fantastic organic (and highly "kissable") scrub.
(And as always, remember that because the skin on our faces is so very tender, you'll need to be extra gentle--especially around your eyes.) |

As a regular reader, you know that Wholesome Sweeteners takes our Fair Trade promise very seriously. But it’s your commitment to the program that makes it all work. In 2005, Wholesome set the standard for Fair Trade certification of sugars. Since then, consumer support of Fair Trade Certified sugars has generated more than $252,000, which is paid directly to our Fair Trade partners in Costa Rica, Malawi and Paraguay. In Malawi, for example, one of the world's poorest countries (where the average per-capita income is about $0.50 a day), the Fair Trade allowed the community to build a new clinic and water system.
We thank you for your continued support ... together we're making the world a sweeter place one spoonful of sugar at a time. |

You never know where in the world you’ll find Wholesome Sweeteners products—or people who love them.
For this installation of "Where in the World," our intrepid Wholesome Sweeteners adventurers are nested in an overlook near one of our Fair Trade Cooperatives. The object of their attention is a volcano. Do you know the name of the country and the volcano whose slopes were admired by Pauline McKee (wearing a Wholesome Sweeteners “Feeling Blue” Blue Agave t-shirt) and her young friend Gio (wearing an "Are You Certifiable?" t-shirt) last fall?
Please send entries to Info@WholesomeSweeteners.com and write “Where in the World” (or “I know! I know!”) in the email subject line. In the body of the email, please tell us the country and volcano, as well as your name, phone number and street address by March 1, 2007. We’ll select one entry at random from all correct entries. If selected, you'll receive a special Wholesome Sweeteners Spring Gift of sugars, syrups and nectars just in time for spring sweetening—plus a rare and wonderful Wholesome Sweeteners “Are You Certifiable?” Fair Trade cap. Four runners-up will receive Wholesome Sweeteners sugars and molasses.
No purchase necessary. Enter as often as you like, but only one gift per family, please.
We'll let everyone know "Where in the World" this is in the next issue of The Sugar Club. |
Hints: This is the only volcano in the country that has been constantly active since it woke up in 1968, after “sleeping” for 400 years. It produces huge ash columns, explosions and glowing red lava floes almost every day. It is considered one of the ten most active volcanoes in the world. This lush, small country is renowned for its beaches, rainforest, organically grown sugar cane and this spectacular (and in this photo, fog-shrouded) volcano. | |
