In Fall 2006 we updated the label for our Organic Blackstrap Molasses to an appealing green-colored label.

The label has changed but the Organic Molasses is still exactly the same wonderful, highly nutritious molasses as before.  There has been no change to the actual molasses, only to the label.

Wholesome Sweeteners’ Organic Molasses has all the great “blackstrap-nutrition”; and it is pleasant-tasting and a sweeter-style of blackstrap molasses due high residual sugar levels. Many consumers were deterred from using our Organic Molasses, as they perceived the term blackstrap to mean that the molasses would be very bitter.  For this reason we removed the name Blackstrap from the front of the label.

Since removing the word blackstrap Wholesome has received a barrage of calls, letters and emails from our customers who are concerned that the actual molasses may have been changed.

In response to this feedback from our customers we will be amending the Ingredients on the label to read: Organic Blackstrap Molasses.  Wholesome Sweeteners would like to thank our valued customers for their loyalty, support and much appreciated feedback.  We are always keen to listen!

Organic “Blackstrap” Molasses Vs. Refined Processed Molasses

• Wholesome Sweeteners’ Organic Blackstrap Molasses is a relatively sweet Blackstrap Molasses – used by many consumers for its’ rich beneficial contents and robust flavor.

• Refined blackstrap molasses is usually very bitter, as all the sugar has been extracted from it.  This molasses is most often used in cattle-feed.  

Organic Blackstrap Molasses

One Tablespoonful contains;

·        20% of your Daily Recommended Intake (RDI) for Potassium,

·        15% RDI for Iron,

·        10% RDI for Vitamin B6,

·        10% RDI for Calcium and

·        8% RDI for Magnesium. 

·        It even contains chromium, which helps balance blood sugar.
