Wholesome Sweeteners’ commitment to security begins with the high standards we set for ourselves as well as our entire supply chain to protect our products and our company. After extensive research, analysis and in-the-field auditing, we have developed a comprehensive security plan that ensures a safe and secure delivery of our sugars and sweeteners.
We are proud members of the Customs Trade Partnership Anti-Terrorism (C-TPAT), a government program designed specifically to protect the supply chain in the United States. C-TPAT’s intent is to secure the supply chain from terrorists and weapons of mass destruction. C-TPAT members are companies that volunteer and welcome the US government’s scrutiny and inspection of their entire supply chain (from foreign suppliers locales to ports of call to US freight carriers and everything in between). Wholesome Sweeteners supported the C-TPAT initiative early in its development and has benefited from this partnership with the US government, resulting in a safer supply chain.
Wholesome Sweeteners current security plan addresses the following safety areas and concerns:
We have taken our involvement with the C-TPAT program one step further; we have received ISA Certification. ISA, or Independent Self Assessment, means we have proven to the US government our capability and willingness to self audit. ISA Certification is verification that our security procedures meet or exceed the minimum standards set by the government.
Another step we take to ensure protection for our products is by partnering with other companies (suppliers, freight carriers, brokers, etc.) who also have a strong commitment to security. Domestically, we strive to partner with companies that are C-TPAT certified. Outside of the US, our partner companies are BASC (Business Anti-Smuggling Coalition) certified or currently becoming BASC certified. In our ongoing effort, we audit our suppliers once a year to confirm C-TPAT or BASC participation.
